Quarantine Burnout Busters

Hello again!

If you’re like us, you’ve been at home quite a lot keeping safe and protecting our fabulous NHS. It’s been rather a long while staying fairly cooped up and boy is it tiring! Who knew hunkering down at home could be such a drain on energy? As lockdown has been lifting the world seems to be slowly climbing out of its slumber. But, what have we learned from this experience? Some of us have learned new skills like breadmaking or how to make meals on whatever has been lurking at the back of the cupboard for goodness knows how long. In this article, we want to touch on what cupboard staples may be a good idea to have hanging around to help boost energy (and hopefully spirits!) should hunkering down be needed again in the future.

A lot of us can’t seem to function before our first cup of coffee in the morning to wake us up and make us feel human (psst.. I’m just the same). We all know the caffeine in coffee is great for giving us a kick first thing in the morning. Not everyone can rely on coffee however as it can make us feel jittery or just a bit too overstimulated. If this is the case for you, if you start your day with a healthy bowl of porridge, this may also do the trick for you! It’s a whole grain food which provides long lasting slow release energy. Not to mention, it’s a very adaptable food. Add some cinnamon and lovely apples and you’re sure to get up and go!

Snacks such as nuts, seeds, fruit or popcorn are also great for providing your body with energy and nutrients. Nuts and seeds keep well in the cupboards, and popcorn can be adapted to anything you like! Whether it’s buttery or sweet and salty, the world is your oyster when it comes to topping the popping kernels of goodness.

Main meals to provide you with more energy are easily made from things with a base like quinoa or brown rice. Add some nice leafy greens, beetroot, lentils or sweet potato and you’re onto a real winner!

Along with all these tasty foods, we need to ensure we are having enough fluids to keep us going too. Water is a huge booster for energy and it’s cheap and readily available! Green tea is another great drink for an energy boost. Green Tea has lots of powerful antioxidants to help prevent oxidative stress and inflammation! If you don’t happen to like the taste, that’s okay too. We happen to sell Green Tea Extract capsules to help you have all the benefits without the taste. Check out our store and see what we’ve got for you!

Well, that’s all for now from HQ. We hope this was helpful and that you’re all keeping well!
